Russia is Ready to Offer More Investments to Africa

The Russian Charge D’Affaires in Cairo Svetlana Zubova said Sunday in the interview to the Middle East News Agency that Russia gives wider attention to the convention of the Russia–Africa summit and the economic forum which will be held on the sidelines of the summit on October 23-24 in Sochi.

According to her press statements the summit has no precedent in terms of volume and the topics that will be tackled. She told the journalists that 47 heads of state and governments will take part in the summit. It will bring a great variety of models and projects for dealing with Africa which plays a big role in the world economy. The event will discuss existing cooperation projects between Russia and Africa as the main goal of Russia and Africa is to explore resources and develop them.

Mrs. Zubova stressed that Russia is seeking to expand cooperation with Africa in the fields of industry, transport, communications, technology, education and health. Moreover, Russia expects that the summit will enhance friendship and cooperation relations between the two sides, promote new beneficial projects and upgrade African-Russian relations. The summit will witness many sessions on the role of media, housing, railways, and developing transportation networks in Africa.

The interviewee mentioned that Russia cooperates with African states in the field of fighting terror, referring to cooperation between Egypt and Russia in the exchanging information on terrorism and terrorists. Concluding, the Russian Charge D’Affaires stipulated that Russia supports African states in getting a fair representation in the Security Council referring to Egyptian Russian agreement on reforming the UN.
