Dear Egyptian friends!
I am Georgiy Borisenko. Starting my mission as Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Arab Republic of Egypt I would like to introduce myself and say that I am highly honored to work for the development of relations between our nations.
The whole world admires the richest history of Egypt which is the cradle of human civilization. But your country is well known not only through its unparalleled historical heritage. Today Egypt is among leading members of the international community, a nation with global cultural influence, significant economic progress and strong defense capabilities, playing central role both in the Arab family and in Africa.
Russia prides itself on having deep traditions of friendship with your country laid down by great Egyptian and world leader Gamal Abdel Nasser. The cultivation of these friendly ties is continued nowdays under the leadership of distinguished Presidents Vladimir Putin and Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
Many Russians have visited Egypt. They appreciate your traditional hospitality and love your wonderful country. At the same time we are happy that more Egyptians are coming to Russia. They are always welcome.
Our nations are really close to each other. The flight from Moscow to Cairo took me only 4,5 hours. If to fly the shortest distance between us – from Port Said to the southern Russian city of Sochi – it would take you only couple hours.
We have every opportunity to expand tourist and cultural exchanges, to enhance bilateral trade and technology cooperation. Russia and Egypt share similar views on many foreign policy issues and can do a lot by coordinating their efforts to resolve regional conflicts such as in Syria or Lybia.
Sorry for not adressing you in the Arabic language. I hope to learn it in close communication with you, as we promote together Russian-Egyptian relations and friendship.
As I conclude these remarks I can already tell you my first Arabic word: Shukran.
